Amy Hogan, born May 3rd 1966 to Judith and Ronald in Rochester, NY. She is preceded by her father, Ronald, and survived by her mother; Judith, brothers; Tim and David, her children; Amanda (Aaron), Joseph, Alicia (Nicholas), and Abigail (Justin), and her grandchildren; Clementine and Benedict. Amy was a woman of many talents and there was scarce a craft that she hadn’t dabbled in. From painting to crocheting, pottery to soap making, sewing to paper mache, gardening to cooking, she was always in the middle of a project and looking ahead to the next one or five. She was an excellent cook, always making some tasty meal or treat that she would share with anyone she saw. She was a creative person in everything, and that creativity shone especially bright when she was creating for her family. Whether the creations were edible, decorative, or in making magic for every holiday and birthday, her touch was everywhere in her family and among her friends.
The role in life that brought her the most joy was being a Grandma. She was there when Clementine took her first breath. When Benedict came home in March 2020, she and her granddaughter were the world's greatest welcoming committee. She often spoke of the magic in our generations of first born women and the power we can draw through that connection. As the cherubs grew, Amy shared her love of the wonder of nature, cooking and eating delicious food, creating beautiful art, and playing all sorts of games with them, so naturally and with so much joy. Our many sleepover parties often ended with either an episode of “Little House on the Prairie” or a disco ball dance party and a barrel of laughs.
Amy cherished her friends like they were family. She lived a fun life with her friends: between the concerts, nights at each other's houses, wiping the floor with them whenever a deck of cards came out, and stories and laughs they shared, Amy will live on in the hearts of so many people whose lives she touched.
If you couldn’t find Amy with her family and friends, you could find her in her garden. Her green thumb was second to none and gardens always felt like some magical place you see drawn in a children’s fairytale. It was a real-life fairytale, complete with a few fairy doors scattered through the flowers and vegetable plants. If she wasn’t in her garden, then she was curled up with a book. She probably read a library’s worth of books in her life, always having one (or three) on her phone or in her bag.
Amy Hogan is a dear mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, one who will live on brightly through the love and care she shared with those around her. She will be dearly missed by many and will be remembered.
